Last night,
lying, thinking –
I felt so
incredibly alone.
And the night
took me to a dark place.
I wanted to be dancing,
singing with you.
Sharing passions
from common springs.
But I was alone,
someplace in the old world.
Then a new love,
silently approached,
seating herself near.
She held my hand,
and told me of a life
no longer doomed.
Amid the noises,
I saw a deep sea still
fragrant with plum wine.
And as we kissed,
I was at peace –
another time,
another place.
