Infinite Worlds

I was beaten at chess, again.
By the Chinese lady who
reads books in English.
I made one fatal move,
and it was the end for me.
I thought to myself,
I need to approach the
game differently.
Perhaps I need to
cleanse my inner vision.
Until I see nothing but
the strategy, and the way?
But then I thought….
This is the way.
Two people playing chess.
The world outside, a battle of wits.
Everything is unanswered
and uncertain.
Yet, there is no abyss
and nothing to decide.
We are living in the moment.
We can use it any way we want.
This is a path to serenity.

One step, a hundred moments

Living with both
spring blossoms and shadows.
I travel around.
Walking, drinking coffee
and writing poems.
Each step.
Each falling leaf.
And each smile given to me.
Reflecting life and death,
and all things in-between.
As my eyes
open and close.
Nothing can be touched.
The past is already past.
And the present never stays.

Until nirvāṇa comes

In the time we have.
We are one.
With the same delight
and reverence for life.
We choose to live
with a wandering wit.
Ignoring the dancing
show ponies.
Who loosen themselves
in the streams of
joy and ecstasy.
In the end, we let go.
Measuring each moment
with a smile, and letting
the world come to us.
This is the way.

A night to remember

Winter is here.
Even in the south it is cold.
Awake at night my
quilts can’t keep me warm.
A shadow of my love
is on the wall, and
inside my heart.
I will not rest this night.
Just listen to the echoes
of nature’s rhythm.
Until the first light of day.

To be empty of worrying

Taking a deep breath.
I began to think and imagine.
A few moments are enough.
A few words can open up life.
And everyday is a new arrival.
Never in the same place.
A mind at rest, I opened my eyes.
No longer turning from this world.
And once again, a self that loves.

In sync with life

We passed some
moments together.
Fretting on how things are.
Set against the gray sky,
it seemed that nothing
had depth or shape.
But we looked beyond this.
To the gaps between
the sky and earth.
And the long whispers
of our desires.
Even in the midst of pain
and sadness, you can be free.
These moments belong to us.

Life is deep

Driven away from
the other place.
Sewn with false thread.
I changed channels in blue light.
Making my home
amidst this busting city.
Now, I can embrace the
flocks of peaks and good dreams.
With simplicity and plainness.
And a calming of the soul.

A cold day in the city

A single magpie
shakes me down.
Streets full of changing moods,
that capture all of history.
Dusts of light
from distant neon signs.
When the day is finished.
I will ask myself,
what uttered words are mine?
And what are those of
a strange delusion.
Drifting in the winter clouds.
