A pristine path

A poem reflecting on my current circumstances.

Death could drop
from the sky, anytime.
A tough human evolution.
Now, a twilight is looming
in a heart beating.
But I still see,
a sky of endless white
and a message of peace.

Ripples on the water

In spring’s darkness,                                   a sash of tears.
Outside, an old man walking
looking for a safe hand to hold.
I think of a final fantasy,
it takes me to another place.
A summer river being crossed,
and not quite dark yet.

Lately, I notice

A poem I wrote this afternoon.

Teaming with hope,
seaking meaning
in the dark and
wondering what
I should do.
Outside the sparrows
are walking,
thinking of a
life passed-by.
How useless once
the sparrows were,
to worry how to die
and life beyond.
But they knew,
only once do you have
all this, a beginners
mind once again.

The wind has settled

A walk outside and a moment with a stranger, who told me about his ‘difficult life’. I wrote this poem.

I met a man in Kaohsiung,
he sat next to me.
The smile of a stone Buddha,
and a solitary spring – he
wrote some words.
He looked hungry,
and talked to the wind.
So, we had cake and coffee.
And I thought…
what we think, we become.
But slowly, slowly.

A long road #2

I have been in Taiwan some time now, like many – unable to return home. The virus seems to influence our thoughts and actions.. toilet roll shelves empty in my local supermarket. Life.. goes on… I wrote this poem just now.

March flower moon,
petals promised so much.
But frozen silence
lingers in….
Awakening life,
and minds to everything.
Now, each step
a fresh breeze.
Enlightened to one reality –
the earth is safe,
when we are safe.

From the empty nest

I saw a bird on my journey. A sketch and a poem about the experience

A wet beach night,
I saw the bird – ripped
from a knotty branch.
A silence between us,
and a sudden flight.
Alone on this island,
how slowly the light changes.
