What shall we praise?

Why is it so?
Because
we go all around.
Worshipping
this and that.
Trying to stabilize
our lustful fires.
A dark path trending.
What I need
is a heart and a soul.
That lives in the
current of ordinary life.
Finding absence
that is useful
And habits of the mind.
That help me see
endless time as one moment.

Day # 24: Osaka Airport

(Written at Osaka Airport)

Sometimes the world
fights out its desires.
Breathless, from the climbing
temple steps in Kyoto.
Confused by the Shibuya
crossing in Tokyo.
Mesmerized by the sea in Kobe.
And the great Buddha in Nara.
Like a narrow road disappearing.
My journey ends in Osaka.
And what of my desire?
To take a not – knowing
position on my journeys.
And not believe everything
my mind tells me.
This is the way

Japan Poem # 52

There is always flow
happening around me.
So I walk and breathe gently.
At first thoughts scatter everywhere.
But soon I learn to calm myself
and think in a new way.
I always arrive at my destination.
Ready to write, laugh, cry
and be true to my authentic self.

Japan Poem# 50

(Written in my hotel in Osaka)

What are we to make
of these days?
Eastward messages.
Westward messages.
They all come and go.
Perhaps I should
follow the moon and
drifting summer clouds.
Or maybe the tappings
of a hand drum in
Hozen-ji Temple?
I think I will follow my way.
Bearing the weight of being.
With words, friendship and
waking easily for those
dark dreams from past days.

Day # 21 : Arrival back in Osaka

(Hozen-ji Temple)

I am not defeated by the rain.
I am not defeated by anything.
Eventually, the rain
returns to the ocean.
Eventually, I will return
to the morning dew.
There is no hopeless journey.
Only a hopeless effort.
The rain, the ocean
and my soul they are one.
This is the way.

Day # 20 : Uneo District. Tokyo.

Travelling with myself.
Wandering and
wondering footsteps.
Roads, streets and paths
go up and down.
Coffee will always be served.
All things come and go.
This journey is never ending.
Creating neither black or blue.
Just the way.

Japan Poem # 42

( Written in Yanaka District, Tokyo)

With summer, now.
The cicadas shriek.
The Karasu congregate
to honour the 47 Akoroshis.
I continue with my travels.
Clouds now and then.
But everything before me.
Whispering softly.
Gloom is for another day.
And memory can
always be dulled.

Japan Poem # 41

(Coffee near the National Museum, Tokyo)

Heavy, thought
filled steps.
With waves of
sadness and regret?
No…..
I have spent
the whole day.
Going where I want to.
Full of imperial dreams.
With zen and good
coffee by my side.
That is a good day.

Japan Poem # 38

(Shibuya Area: Tokyo)

Blowing through my heart.
I tasted the crowds in Shibuya.
The heat and drenched clothes.
There is no shelter
from the Tokyo sun.
I walked on and found shade
under a railway bridge.
Now, I can write some words.
About the long road I travel.
But slowly, slowly……
